Allocation Management

At the core of the gas market lies allocation management—the central process in which physical gas volumes are precisely assigned to the respective balancing groups within the market area. Accurate allocation forms the foundation for balancing group accounting, which the market area manager (MGV) carries out for the balancing group managers (BKV). Inaccuracies in this process can lead to imbalances and unnecessary activation of balancing energy.
Network operators are responsible for hourly gas flow data at their network interconnection points, entry points, and exit points on a daily basis and securely transmitting this data to the MGV. The key challenge lies in the precise aggregation of these values by balancing groups and time series types, as well as in actively participating in clearing processes to continuously validate and, if necessary, correct the allocated volumes.
The combination of “SAP S/4HANA Utilities extensions for meter-to-cash processes by PROLOGA” and “KoV Enhancements on SAP Business Technology Platform by PROLOGA Energy” significantly extends the functionalities available to network operators for allocation management.
This integrated solution covers the entire allocation process—from importing temperature data and performing formula-based calculations for standard load profiles (SLP) and registered load measurement (RLM) (in accordance with DVGW G 685, AGA8, and SERG-88) to validating master data and transferring balanced gas volumes to the MaCo Cloud.
With SAP Fiori apps from PROLOGA, network operators can efficiently execute and monitor declaration and allocation clearing processes.
Import temperature data via various interfaces such as CSV or XML files, as well as through a dedicated weather data import app. The imported temperature data serves as the basis for calculating standard load profiles (SLP) and analyzing the network account balance in relation to temperature trends.
Calculate standard load profiles (SLP) based on TU Munich and technical quantity determination (TME) incompliance with DVGW G 685, AGA8, and SERG-88, which form the foundation of the entire allocation process.
Validate and perform plausibility checks on master data using the EDM Cluster Framework, improving the quality of allocations.
Connect to SAP Market Communication for Utilities (SAP MaCo Cloud) to transmit and receive selected gas formats such as ALOCAT.
Use the Net Account apps for extensive and detailed monitoring of allocation data, helping network operators to analyze balancing anomalies and to monitor the net account.
