BUSINESS CHALLENGE: Legacy Systems Blocking Customer Excellence

With Brazil’s energy sector expected to grow more than seven percent annually through 2029, CELESC faced increasing pressure to modernize its legacy IT systems and eliminate operational inefficiencies. The existing commercial infrastructure was fragmented and could no longer support the level of responsiveness and transparency expected by modern utility customers. Manual processes dominated meter-reading and billing, resulting in delays, high administrative overhead, and limited ability to respond dynamically to real-world events such as route disruptions or consumption anomalies. Additionally, customers lacked access to detailed, real-time insights into their contracts, consumption, and billing. This situation not only impacted operational performance but also jeopardized CELESC’s ambition to be a leading customer-centric energy provider in Latin America.

SOLUTION: End-to-End Meter-to-Cash Transformation with PROLOGA

In response, CELESC initiated a comprehensive digital transformation project, migrating to the SAP S/4HANA Utilities platform while integrating PROLOGA’s certified SAP add-on for meter-to-cash processes. The PROLOGA solution is natively embedded into the SAP ecosystem, enabling field teams to perform real-time meter readings and generate bills instantly—even in offline scenarios. The resulting data is automatically synchronized into the customer relationship system, ensuring end-to-end accuracy and eliminating the need for manual data handling. At the operational level, dispatchers now use a SAP Fiori-based application to monitor meter-reader tours in real time, quickly respond to issues such as traffic delays, and dynamically reassign tasks to keep operations on schedule. On the customer side, CELESC launched a new mobile self-service app that allows users to access detailed billing, track contract changes, and manage their accounts from anywhere—creating a new standard for customer experience in the Brazilian energy sector.
